Tribhuvan University (TU) is a state funded college in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal. Built up in 1959, TU is the oldest of the five colleges in Nepal. Enrolment in 2013-2014 was eighth biggest on the world.The college gives undergrad and graduate training. More than 4,400 courses are offered, of which 500 are for middle of the road level courses (equal to higher optional school), 2,079 are for undergrad and 2,000 are for postgraduate projects. The college has 85 indispensable schools and more than 600 subsidiary universities all through the nation. Since it is government financed, it is less costly than private colleges.Tribhuvan University was named after late King Tribhuvan. Established in 1959, i.e. 2016 B.S., it is the oldest and largest university in Nepal.
TU has 7841 teaching faculty and 7413 non-teaching staff including the support staff in its constituent campuses. The number of total employees is 15254.
